I was standing in a building constructed during the reign of
Catherine the Great near downtown Moscow when the Director of the Russian
Ministry of Health gently put his hand on my shoulder and said, “Mr. Coleman,
this building is older than your country.”
I returned his warm smile and replied, “Yes, just about everything is
older than our country.”
That fact makes it even more remarkable that our
Constitution is the oldest written Constitution of any major government in the
world. And the most radical - because it
created the first and only government limited specifically to protecting the
rights and liberties of the governed!
How are we doing with that “protecting the rights and
liberties of the governed” thing? Most
folks are saying, “Not too well.” Which
makes The Institute’s new project even more critical.
As you may know, I’ve been teaching The Institute’s original
series, “Origins of the Constitution: The
Original Intent of the Framers,” in multiple cities across Arkansas this
past year. The response has been
amazing. As folks have rediscovered what
our Founders intended for our country and its government, it’s kindled a new
passion for what we’ve lost.
We lost the last generation in the classroom. We cannot afford to lose the next. So The
Institute has embarked on the project of producing “Origins of the Constitution: The Original Intent of the Framers” on
DVD and placing the series in every Arkansas school, college and university.
How important is it
that our children know and understand the Constitution’s guarantees of liberty
and freedom? How can they know what
they’ve lost if they don’t know what they had?
We need your help to make this critically important project
possible. Please consider a generous tax-deductible gift to The Institute for Constitutional Policy. Your gift
will be used to support the production of the “Origins” series on DVD and its free
placement in every Arkansas school.
For our country, our children and theirs, thank you!
